A new student in the singing school, Alvin is also currently a student at the National University of Singapore. He is passionate
about singing and looks forward to improving his singing techniques through classes.
Exposed to music at the very tender age of 4 when his mother sent him for piano lessons., Caleb developed a deep appreciation
for music and he has never looked back since. Trained in classical piano, his passion in music inevitably led him to venture
into pop, jazz and other genres of music. Caleb has played the keyboards for Singapore veteran singer Pan Xiu Qiong’s solo
concert at the official opening of the Esplanade in 2002 and performs frequently at the Esplanade concert hall and outdoor
amphitheatre for various music events. Upon graduating with a diploma in Music Technology at Lasalle School of the Arts
he set up a home recording studio, where he now works full time, doing a wide range of jobs like vocal/instrument recording,
music arrangement/production, music composition and vocal training. Singing has always been a vehicle of self expression,
communication and source of inner peace for Caleb. He loves the rush of adrenaline whenever he sings to an audience and
hopes to communicate all kinds of emotions and ideas through his stage performances. Music is his life.
Dr Chin KIn Wuu is a consultant anesthetist in private practice. He has been singing for the past few years and loves to sing
to his patients before they are under anesthesia, which really put them at ease before their operations. He is also a member
of the singing doctors’ society, a group of doctors who like to sing and get together occasionally to raise funds for charity.
Some would argue at a sixteen year old knows little about choosing the right path or goal for the future, but Elliot knows that
performing is her life. Raised in Manila, Philippines, she is now a high school student at the Singapore American School, where
she takes part in as many theatrical productions as possible. She discovered drama classes at the age of twelve, and hasn't
looked back since. Fast-forwarding to present day, you'll find that Elliot is an avid performance artist, focusing on acting,
singing, dancing and playing the violin (with creative writing in her spare time). For years, she has gotten through auditions
and school productions with no proper vocal training, relying on natural ability until earlier this year, when she started taking
voice lessons. Working together with her teacher, Elliot feels she is ready to show what she can do at his year's SSF.
Evelyn spent 13 years in marketing, branding and business development industries. Prior to joining *scape Co. Ltd, Evelyn
was lecturing in Temasek Polytechnic Mass Communication diploma programme. She is passionate about teaching and
investing in young lives. Helping them shape their future gives her deep satisfaction. Evelyn holds a Master of Mass
Communications from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and a BA in Communication Studies from Royal Melbourne
Institute of Technology, Australia. Her hobbies include singing, playing various musical instruments, fitness and traveling.
A fresh graduate from polytechnic, Glen Tiew discovered his passion and love for singing when he joined his secondary
school’s musical production, Les Miserables, and played the role of Marius. The one year production turned his life around
and made him realise what he really enjoyed doing. He joined his school’s choir and took the advanced choral choir singing
ABRSM exam. He also sang in shows such as Singapore Changi Hospital’s Needlestick Awareness Day, Dinner and Dance
for the Singapore Chef Association, National Day Celebration at Treasury Building, Temasek Polytechnic’s Open house
(engineering school) and Celebrate Christmas in Singapore. One of the finalists for Singapore Street Festival’s Singing
competition last year, his musical influences are Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Clay Aiken, Elvis Presley, Luther Vandross,
INXS, Robbie Williams and many more. One day he hopes to have his own solo album and is considering the teaching industry.
Jean Kyaw, age 14, loves music since she was a little kid. Born in the Philippines and raised in Singapore, she loves performing
and is part of the Drama Club since primary school. She used to dance and was in many school productions as well. Besides
being in Choir, Jean took private vocal lessons. It’s been a wonderful experience and a tremendous step to attaining her
dream. Jean always had this motto in life and that is to ‘Never give up because nothing is impossible and just continue trying!’.
He started learning the classical guitar at the age of five with his father and in a short span of five years, Kevin (10 yrs old)
was a seasoned guitar performer. Giving his first public performance at the age of five, he was the youngest soloist to be
featured in TPGC s Share concert at six. Most recently, he was featured at Mosaic Music Festival 2008 and was the youngest
semi Finalist at the 3rd Singapore International Classical Guitar Competition.
Dr Gordon Lim is an obstetrician and gynaecologist by profession. He confesses to be happiest when he is singing romantic
songs and harbours a secret desire to be more than a bathroom singer one of these days.
Dr Leong Hoo Kwong is a specialist ear nose and throat doctor who enjoys singing. Knowing the proper singing technique
also help him understand his patients with voice problem better.
For Siew Yin, playing music was as natural as learning her alphabet. She started on the piano in primary school and discovered
her singing voice later in life. Music has always been her first love and by crooning along, she’s come full circle. She’s grateful
to Teacher Erick for making all this magic happen. Mum to 2 boys aged 17 & 19, paediatrician & wife to Dr KC Tan, a
dermatologist, she’s many things to many people. In May 2008, she would also have made an attempt up Mt Kinabalu to
heighten awareness for the Children’s Cancer Foundation & help to raise donations. An extrovert and having done step
aerobics for 16 years, she’s now ready for some fun, song & dance on the stage.
Moe Masri is an Urban Music Producer, Songwriter & Singer. Trained in Synthesizers and Computer Music Programming,
he last appeared in "Asia Bagus!" & Channel NewsAsia's "As Real As It Gets!”. In 2005, he self-produced & self-released a
Demo EP and distributed it to music reviewers in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, UK and USA. He has performed
in Singapore (Singapore Street Festival, POPagenda Pop Village, Fort Minor Block Party) and Malaysia (Doppelganger).
Recently Moe was named a Finalist in Channel V’s Asia Music Platform "AMP BIG BREAK 2007". His song “Cinta” was also
a finalist on “SONGSIWRITE SONGWRITING COMPETITION 2007” held in Singapore. Moe has produced songs for Hip Hop
Indie artistes in Singapore, Japan, Germany, USA and Canada. Moe is currently working on his Debut Album in 2008.
Sharon was exposed to cultural shows and concerts by her parents at a tender age and she developed a love for music.
She learnt to play the piano and enjoyed singing. As a student, she participated in local and international concerts and took
part in interschool competitions, besides singing in the church choir. During her days as a medical student at the National
University of Singapore, she was part of the Medical Faculty Choir and also sang for charity concerts. After graduation, she
concentrated her time on her medical career and her family but did participate in performances organised by the hospital
departments and groups. She is currently running her own full time medical practice. She is married to a radiologist and has
two daughters and a son. She often goes to musicals and pop concerts. She enjoys going to the spa and walking her dog.
Sia Yuen’s passion in life is music and singing. Since young, she learnt to play the Piano & Er-hu and it was her dream to
sing. Her first vocal trainer was Ms. SK Poon and is now taking vocal lesson with Erick Guansing. In 2004, Sia Yuen participated
in her first SSF’s singing competition as a duet group named “Red & Blue", and was second. She then joined as a soloist
and came in as 2nd runner up. Finally in 2007, she was the champion of WoW! The SSF Singing Award. Sia Yuen also
performed in community events like this year’s Chinese New Year celebration organized by Henderson Community Club.
Started vocal training with veteran singer Miss SK Poon 3 years ago. Although still fresh in the music scene, he has a keen
interest in mandarin pop and passion for performing. Performing previously with Channel U, this is his first SSF performance,
and he hopes to gain stage experience. Khunglin looks upon this SSF as a great learning and performing opportunity and
hope to be a part of future SSF events. He just completed national service and is awaiting entry into university.
