What started out as 3 kentals jamming out of sheer fun and boredom turned into a search to form a band where each and
every one of us, the members can not only have fun but also unleash the inner talents in us. So by mid 2007, the 3 kentals
having been in the same school, leading the same monotonous lives and being the closest of brothers that we were, decided
that it was about time the 3-piece band got serious and thus, with our other members, Jixxie and Spades, also friends from
the same school, slowly emerged.
Absinthe are Jemuel (Rhythm Guitar), YK (Lead Guitar), Winnie (Vocals), Eugene (Bass), Aim (Drums). Started with the End-Of-Year Cosplay held at the Expo in 2007. Upon listening to the karaoke section of the Cosplay, Jemuel and Winnie became
inspired to form a band – to play their favourite J-rock songs. Coincidentally, YK suggested to Jemuel about forming a band.
Jemuel met Eugene through a mutual friend and came to learn that he was picking up bass. Jemuel approached Eugene to
be the band’s bassist. In search of a drummer, Winnie went online. To her relief, Aim responded. Hence, the band was
complete. Absinthe was chosen as the band’s name in relation to the heritage of the drink and the arts culture.
Arrowhead is a name that we believe symbolises our dream and desire to spearhead the local music industry. We have been
a band for close to 2 years now. With our music we hope to spread the word of our fellow bands within the community. We
won a band competition, Black Lights in Temask Junior College. Some other of our more prominent performances includes
full flight, an anti-aids campaign and fort canning park’s festival of youth and love. This would be their second time performing
at the streets festival. We believe we can be a new face of the local scene with refreshing music that is full or hope and that
looks to a bright future with songs like make it out. We hope that you enjoy our music and thank you for your time.
Sharing the same passion and dream, Buckle Berry was formed in the midst of spring 2008. Inclusive of members from
defunct local J-rock bands, we plan to provide a fantastic evening, playing songs of past and present renowned J-rock band.
Expect to hear familiar tunes from Luna Sea to D’espair Ray.
The Dormz is a 4-member rock band from Singapore. They got together in the 1980s and played in many local gigs, especially
the old-skool venue World Trade Centre Amphitheatre. The band called it a day in the 1992 and though the band had come
to an end, the individual members most certainly did not go quietly into that good night. Rather, they struck to their path as
the band decides to pursue on their own interest and individual taste of music. They had a very successful career in the music
industry being a recording artist in Malaysia and Singapore and had produce albums with their own respective bands. Now
under the leadership of Roslee (Olee), this band decides to get together again.
Formed in late 2006, Hanging By A Thread is a five piece band that combines different kinds of music genres into their songs.
Coming from various regions of Singapore, they are able to put aside their differences and work together as one. A band
that believes in friendships and hardwork for success.
Hidama, meaning “fireball; falling star” in Japanese, is written in Kanji (similar in meaning to Chinese characters) as “huo”
which means flames or fire and “yu” which means “jades” in Chinese. The name was chosen due to the enthusiasm and
dreams of the band members. Hidama started out when drummer Rizumu, vocalist Aiko (Kaili) and bassist Hiyuu decided
to create a jrock/pop band to cover songs from their favourite Japanese musicians. Keyboardist Audrey and guitarist “Senshi”
Simon were called up, and Hidama started their jamming. In 2007, Hidama participated in the first ever Singapore Street
Festival J-rock Taisen competition and managed to clinch the Gold Taisen trophy and become the first Singaporean Jrock
Taisen under SSF.
In the Malay context, it means the equator. And being the residents of the tropical archipelago situated at the equator belt represents this. A one of a kind New-Age World music band that produces their own unique music style in the form of ethnical
instruments fused with modern electronica and infectious dance grooves of drum & bass. Co-founder and music director
Ferdows is the driving force in Katulistiwa's music. Fusing trance with the heavy drones of the mighty didgeridoo (complete
with vocal humming and animal calls), it creates a new mix of new-age wave in modern music. Taking part of the ancient
aboriginal music culture and fusing it with electronic trance/ dance/ trippy/ house/ drum & bass exudes an atmospheric effect
for the listener. The groove is so infectious that you'd get up on your feet to dance. It is music without boundary - something
of which the performer and the audience is well inter-twined soulfully. After of which, listening to Katulistiwa might make one
to pick up didge playing as a part of passionate music knowledge.
Formed in early 2006 by pioneer members - lead guitarist Syam and bassist Hashmeer. The band has shared the stage with
bands such as The Levan Trait and B-Quartet at venues like Youth Park and Gas Haus. With drummer Bruce, who is small
but packed a massive punch on the drums, the lineup was complete with vocalist Grace. Hence the new Never Ending
Problems was formed in 2008. NEP plays weekly at venues such as Home Club, DXO and Music Garage. Grace left shortly
and current vocalist Ellen joined. Playing post-hardcore music, influenced from bands such as Saosin, Silverstein and Eyes
Set To Kill. NEP have recorded a demo with the old vocalist, and plans to record an EP with plenty of original compositions.
Made up of five musicians - vocalist Serene, guitarist Z, bass player Hyder, pianist Sean, and drummer Marcus - Now Playing

ONE WAY was formed in 2008 by a group of musicians from different bands with one thing in common, and that is to make
great music and rocked the local music scene with our passion and showmanship. With Sul as Vocals, the electrifiying Addy
on Guitars, the pounding of Razali on Drums, the experience of Zaidi on Bass and the magical touch of Xubi on Keyboards.
ONE WAY is now ready to perform for the first time together in the Singapore Street Festival Band Competition and are excited
to be competing in this prestigious competition. We hope to blow everyone away with our perfomances in a positive way.
Why Pervy Boy? Marge, the lead singer, believes that most boys are pervy (or aspire to be) – especially the ones she hangs
out with (the band, Andrew - lead guitarist, Derek – Rhythm, Alvin- bassist and Eddy - Drummer). Although largely a Punk
sound, the music of Pervy Boy isn't just that. Some of our music influences include Ramones, Green Day, Good Charlotte,
My Chemical Romance and Blink 182 but we also enjoy the sounds of Brit Bands like Placebo and Radiohead.
Formed by Wesley (Drums), Ken (Guitar), Sean (Guitar), David (Bass) and Samuel (Vocals), Quis are influenced by the sounds
of X Japan, the groovy numbers of Laruku, smooth vocals of SMAP and fusion beats of Tokyo Jihen. These 5 individuals
with very different musical influences that somehow complement each other, will come together to bring the J-Rock revolution
right to your doorstep. Anime fans be sure to catch performances on Driver’s High (GTO) and Alone (Bleach). Songs like Stay
Away will be sure to get your feet tapping and fingers snapping along to the rhythm. Be sure to catch them in action.
Formed in Jan 2008, our music interest developed mainly from J-rock bands like dir en grey, GLAY, JDA, PIERROT and soloists
such as Gackt. We play to spread the feeling of hurt and sorrow caused by weakness, shallowness and egoism of humanity.
Our direction of alternative rock music seek to deliver hearing & visual gratification and desirable sensation to music lovers.
In order to create SectorFive, leading researchers of Transmogrification worldwide had to capture 5 legally unsound primates
from shady sources, gave them instruments to play around with, and kept track of their musical progress through a Plexiglass
barrier. The results were astounding. The researchers took note of the group’s startlingly high energy levels, their penchant
of playing Rock/Pop tunes (in particular, songs coming from a "Land of the Rising Sun", according to one shellshocked
researcher), as well as their brilliant camaraderie and rapport with each other. For their next experiment, SectorFive will be
brought out of their cages and into the public realm, where they will try to win the hearts of audiences through their music.
Sidetrack was formed in late 2006. The members of the band have been playing in other bands previously before they got
together to form ‘Sidetrack’. The sound of the band is generally fusion rock with a focus more on rap rock. Due to the wide
range of influences from bands like Slipknot, Rage Against The Machine, Incubus, P.O.D, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Creed, etc.
pretty much anything goes during the process of song writing. Hence the name of the band ‘Sidetrack’ was appropriate as
we have a tendency to sidetrack into multiple genres in a single song. Listeners can look forward to interesting musical
arrangements in our music. As this is the first time Sidetrack is participating in the Singapore Street Festival, we hope to gain
more experience and learn from other more experienced performers.
In August 2007, the former members of D'RebirthX , with the exclusion of bassist, Jarvis, came together to form Skyler. Skyler
presented its members with new opportunities to experience wider varieties of music from classic rock like Sweet Child O'
Mine to jazzier tunes such as Tokyo Jihen's Marunouchi Sadistic, which the band will be performing. Skyler's December
performance at Project Breakout marked the departure of Andrew who left to pursue his studies and Jarvis who wanted to
further his bass skills. However , the gap was filled by guitarist Hueitai and Bassist Devin. With their new line-up, Skyler is
ready to showcase their everburning passion for music.
From friends to band mates to promising rockstars, Supernova started out as a group of lads who knew that music was the
only true thing they wanted to do. Evolving into what they are today, the very essence of their music lies in their ability to
connect with anyone on almost any level. A blend of charisma hidden behind an array of euphonic melodies, their music
represents the very perspectives and influences that drive the band. Now taking on a softer approach the band focuses on
the very soul of their music, peeling further through the layers of their songs and presenting a more emotionally based
atmosphere. Armed with sounds bursting with an edge that blends within a harmonious cycle, Supernova no longer believes
that louder and faster is better. It is the structure and the performance that brings forth the energy.
The band is formed in the 2005 within the group of friends. They wanted to express whatever feelings they have which is
trapped in their hearts. They decided that only by playing music is able to express how they feel regardless if they are sad
or even happy.
A group of people who got together for one simple reason; to play music for our innermost beings so desire the passionate
expression of music! Formed at the start of this year, we are set to come out with songs to call our own and share it with
the masses. All of us have a common mindset: “we don’t play music cos it looks cool, we play it cos we love it”. With this ,
we believe it will drive us to greater heights in music playing and writing. Our music influences are Jazz, Blues, Funk and Rock
fusions.
Having clinched the position of Second Runner-Up in Singapore Street Festival 2005, Crossbred has since reformed and is
now known as Xbred. With a whole new repertoire consisting of jazz-rock fusion instrumentals, the band has not compromised
its known technicality the least bit. With two new members, Xbred is back in full force, stronger and faster than ever.
